One thing he did right that Hillary did not was seize on the feel good stuff that got Reagan in. However, Reagan also promised tax cuts and heavy doses of economic stimulus. While his trickle down economics mostly stayed on the top, he still laid out policies and stuck to them. Now Obama takes on the slippery slope of guaranteeing the war's end in '09. How can any responsible commander in chief predict the future to that degree? Nixon promised to end the war in his 2nd term, but there is a big difference between over 4 years and in 1 year. During time of war and economic uncertainty, with the threat of terrorism all around, I cannot see America taking on a Freshman Senator long on words and short on substance when an experienced, moderate war hero is his competition. I do believe Hillary, with her decades of public service, her try at health care reform, her being beside a President during the greatest economic growth in 50 years, her often Hawkish votes in the senate, all would have made a compelling argument against any more years of Republican Presidency. It's not over yet, but it is hard to imagine her turning this thing around. The public is as unhappy with the senate as with the president, and that, I believe, is what turned things away from her. I have said it before, and will say it again, only Democrats will give huge support during the primaries to a candidate they will then abandon in the general election. We shall see.LHwriteshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15890891351498768757noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-30510558.post-37194780114933516902008-02-21T08:27:00.000-08:002008-02-21T08:27:00.000-08:00Currently [Feb 21] it looks like Hillary Clinton's...Currently [Feb 21] it looks like Hillary Clinton's ship is sinking. She appears to have one more shot. Sad.

Clinton's loss could mean that centrist dems may be driven into the McCain's arms.Brucehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09331211089963297411noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-30510558.post-63574107869705278042008-02-18T11:19:00.000-08:002008-02-18T11:19:00.000-08:00Indeed, it is quite accurate that Obama has lots o...Indeed, it is quite accurate that Obama has lots of change verbiage, and little substantive material behind it.

An Obama victory will be another self-defeating move by the Dems. McCain will eat Obama alive when it's time to step up to the plate with details. Furthermore, his ultra-dove posture will mean he'll lose the center.Brucehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09331211089963297411noreply@blogger.com
